Apple’s iPhone 5c is now available for pre-order in the US, UK, China and 6 other countries

Apple’s iPhone 5c — which was announced three days ago as a move to include a model with changeable, different colored shells – is now available for pre-order in the US, UK, Australia, China, Canada, France, Germany, Japan and Singapore.

Off-contract pricing for the 16GB 5c is $549 in the US while the 32GB option will set you back $649. Pre-orders can be made via the Apple Store and through major US carriers AT&TSprintT-MobileVerizon Wireless. The iPhone 5s won’t be available for pre-order, though both handsets are due to go on sale from September 20.
Customers in the other countries listed can also place their pre-orders via the Apple Store or through their local carriers, though the starting times for pre-orders may differ. The news that Apple will for the first time release new iPhones in China on launch dayhas been hugely significant, marking its commitment to the country.
The iPhone 5c will retail for CNY4,488 ($733) in China — a price that already includes taxes — and may be subsidized by local carriers as with the iPhone 5, but has still drawn the ire of many consumers in the country.
