If you remember, a Samsung device with a similar model number was spotted on GFXBench last month. The similar device is now spotted on FCC filing which operates on AT&T compatible GSM, HSPA and LTE frequencies, making it the first Windows Phone 8 device on AT&T after a year. we’re looking at a mid-range Windows Phone 8 device with a 720p display and dual-core Snapdragon 400 chipset, as the GFXBench results show Adreno 305 as the GPU that comes with the above-mentioned chipset. The filing on FCC doesn’t reveal much about the handset, except the model number. Samsung also filed a confidentiality request dated August 26th to keep the information private for 180 days, but it seems that the launch date might be near as the handset was tested before August 26th. Currently, the Windows Phone 8 market is dominated by Nokia devices, which accounts for almost 80 percent WP market share. Samsung is investing a great deal of resources to promote its Android devices, and is currently dominating that arena. The launch of a Windows Phone 8 device now will add more devices to Windows Phone 8 product lineup and will give users a choice to select a device that’s not a “Lumia”. It will be interesting to see what Samsung will bring at the table with this purported Windows Phone 8 device, and whether it can compete with all the Lumias that are currently dominating the Windows Phone arena.
